
BIOGRAPHY
MARIACHI LOS LOBOS
The La Joya Palmview High School Mariachi program was established in the year 2008 in an effort to preserve the traditions and the culture of our community and Hispanic student population. The award-winning Mariachi "Los Lobos" have earned many accolades since its creation. Some of these include superior Division 1 and first place awards in local and state competitions. In 2011 and 2015 the Mariachi received the honor of being named the Best 6A High School Mariachi in the state of Texas. The group has received Division 1 ratings for the past two years at the annual UIL State Mariachi Festivals. They have also received 3 resolutions at the Texas State Capitol in Austin for their success in various events. In January of 2013, Mariachi "Los Lobos" was selected as representatives of Texas for Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration and in 2014, they were renamed Texas 6A Mariachi State Co-Champions. In 2017 the group was invited to represent Texas once more at the National Veterans Day Parade in Washington D.C. The popular group holds yearly concerts that bring in more than 3000 people from all over North America and Europe. Mariachi "Los Lobos" is directed by Mayra Alejandra Garcia.
